After waiting unsuccessfully, they asked Shama to intercede. When Baba returned from Lendi, Shama explained their wish, but Baba replied that to know His real form they needed to break the wall of difference between themselves and Him, and then went to Dwarkamai.

The account presents the requested photograph as an image of the body, not the whole reality of the Guru. Baba’s response is remembered as a reminder that spiritual vision requires moving beyond the sense of separation between the devotee, the world, and the Divine.

A photographer later attempted to take Baba’s picture without asking permission. When he developed the negative, he found the photograph of his own Guru instead. The experience led him to understand the importance of unwavering faith in one’s chosen Guru.

Other incidents in the chapter describe Baba’s continuing care: a green cloth revealed in a dream and sent to cover His Samadhi, and a father who found his missing son soon after Baba assured him that the boy would return.

What this account invites us to reflect on

The chapter joins outward signs with inward recognition. A photograph may preserve an appearance, but the stories point toward faith, humility, and the removal of imagined distance from the Guru’s presence.

Editorial note: This page is a concise paraphrase for web presentation.
