Baba answers by distinguishing three levels of understanding: the realised person sees truth without division, the good person sees the world through practical distinctions of right and wrong, and the ignorant person reverses those distinctions. Atman or Brahman is present in all three; the difference lies in how it is perceived.<\/p>\n<p>Baba compares this to space: infinite space, the space in a large pot and the space in a small pot are not different in essence, though they appear limited by their containers. In the same way, Brahman appears in different forms when joined with Maya. Maya is the power of consciousness\u2014not something separate from it\u2014just as sweetness cannot be separated from sugar or brilliance from the sun.<\/p>\n<p>The chapter describes Maya\u2019s two operations: <em>Avarana<\/em>, which covers the underlying Reality, and <em>Vikshepa<\/em>, which projects names, forms and identities such as \u201cI am this person\u201d and \u201cyou are that person.\u201d Baba directs Nana toward the <em>Jnaneswari<\/em> and the knowledge of the Self. He also connects Maya with karma, rebirth and the Guru\u2019s responsibility: promises made to devotees, including M. B. Rege and the Bandra youth, may require return after return, but a realised Guru can act within birth without being inwardly bound by it.<\/p>\n<h3>What this account invites us to reflect on<\/h3>\n<p>The account invites reflection on seeing unity without losing discernment.
