The chapter
Dixit heard that Balu Kaka and Nanasaheb Karamvelkar’s wife were seriously ill. Baba said that Balu Kaka would recover and asked whether the woman had come yet. News later confirmed that Balu Kaka was cured while the woman had passed away.
Chhotu Bhaiyya described a long illness in which food was repeatedly vomited. After medicines failed and his condition became critical, a doctor advised the family to rely on the grace of Sai Baba.
Years later at Shirdi, Baba used another woman’s similar complaint to identify Chhotu Bhaiyya’s illness without being told. Baba instructed him to stop the medicines and assured him that the vomiting would not return.
The account records that the illness did not recur for eight years, and remembers Baba’s words as having removed the problem at its root.
What this account invites us to reflect on
This chapter presents healing through discernment as well as relief. Baba’s assurance is shown as compassionate knowledge of each person’s condition, not a general promise detached from the individual.
