Prophecies

Chapter 2 · Kaka Saheb Dixit’s Diary

Prophecies

Stories of Baba’s foreknowledge, timely guidance, and the faith that responds when a prophecy is fulfilled.

The chapter

Sai Baba appeared to Shama in a dream and told him that Govardan’s mother had died, asking him to go and console the family. Shama went the next day and found Baba’s words true.

Kakasaheb Dixit records another prophecy concerning a woman whose illness was described in a letter. Baba said she would come to Him herself after four days; on the fourth day she passed away.

During Guru Purnima, Hemadpant and Moreshwar Pradhan were both without money. Baba sent Pradhan to Hemadpant for dakshina, even though everyone believed Hemadpant had none. A few minutes earlier, money had unexpectedly arrived for Hemadpant, showing that Baba knew what had happened.

The chapter also recounts a Brahmin saved from a death sentence and Chidambar Gadgil’s joy when Baba accepted worship offered to Him as Lord Ganesha.

What this account invites us to reflect on

The accounts invite reflection on Baba’s awareness of events beyond ordinary sight and on the quiet faith that acts upon His guidance before circumstances explain it.
